Ok.... so for those of you that follow my blog, I sincerely apologize for slacking on the posts, but it is hunting season :) What can I say
So... Saturday, October 3, 2009 marks one of my all time favorite days of the year... This is my Christmas! And I am as giddy as little boy before Christmas waiting to see if he gets his Red Rider BB gun he's been asking for all year! I am so stinkin excited I can hardly stand it! For those of you that are waterfowl enthusiasts you will certainly understand what I mean... the smell of the crisp marsh air, prepping the boat, throwing the decoys and setting up the spread, fixing the blind, loading the gun and the anticipation as you wait for the very second when legal shooting light arrives! Oh man...I am getting so excite writing this I can hardly stand it.
I would like to take this time to thank all those that have worked so hard and sacrificed (and still sacrifice) to preserve our hunting rights and our waterfowl habitats across the country. Because without them... well, I wouldn't get my Christmas!
Here's a video for ya that kinda captures what I'm talking about! Now this is not a plug for them because I don't make anything by showing it, but man it gets me FIRED UP!!!
ENJOY!!!

Gear that I use
So I believe that one of the most important factors in having an enjoyable and safe hunt is to have the right gear and as the boy scouts would always say "BE PREPARED".
So I came across this very interesting guy on the net the other day, he calls himself the "Elk Nut" and he made a video that covers all the essentials for your pack you carry as you are in the mountains chasing that big bull or buck. So I thought I would post that video which will, if you follow his recommendations (and my recommendations, because these are virtually the same things I pack in my hunting pack) you will have a more safe and enjoyable hunt and you'll be prepared for nearly any situation you may come across in the mountains.
The list of the other gear I use will be coming soon as well, but for now enjoy the "Elk Nut".
